Exchange Traded Funds

Over the past several years exchange traded funds (ETF) have become one of the fastest growing segments of the fund industry. Our ETF program allows advisors to fully integrate ETFs into diversified client portfolios based on each client's risk tolerance, time horizon and individual circumstances. Understand exchange traded funds At a Glance.

ETFs strategies can include:

100% ETF Strategy

A portfolio made up entirely of ETFs and constructed using asset allocation and diversification strategies in-line with each client's suitability.

Completion Strategy

A completion strategy may fill in an asset allocation gap or make a style or sector tilt by using one or more ETFs. It may also reduce an over- or under-weighting relative to a benchmark or may enhance the performance of a particular sector or industry by complementing or substituting for stock holdings in that sector or industry. Whether the portfolio is missing a sector, asset class or even a foreign market gap, ETFs can help fill the missing pieces to complete a portfolio.

ETF Core/Satellite Strategy

ETFs used in a core/satellite approach address asset allocation strategies by managing active risk and costs through an efficient blend of index (passive) and active portfolios. Combining ETFs as the "core" with complementary securities, mutual funds or other active managers as the "satellites" may diversify a portfolio and help reduce overall risk.

What is an exchange traded fund?

An ETF is a registered security under the Investment Company Act of 1940. ETFs are similar to traditional mutual funds, except for one major difference — ETFs trade intra-day on an exchange like a stock. This feature provides greater flexibility than mutual funds, without eliminating the benefits of index investing.
